Austagram’s Panir (Cheese)
Austagram’s Panir is called Haor tradition. This Panir has been known for a long time. Some families in Austagram have been making Panir for generations. The Panir was made from the milk of grazing cows and buffaloes. Which still survives with the same standards and reputation. It is said that Panir production started with the cooperation of the Mughals and Pathans. The shape of Austagram’s Panir is white. Panir production is not accompanied by modern machinery. Made entirely by hand with human labour. It has great potential to get GI recognition.
Haor Fish and Dried Fish
Various types of fish are available in Haor of Kishoreganj. The taste and shape of these fishes are different. Being a freshwater fish, the Haor fish of Kishoreganj is very advanced in quality. It is assumed many types of fish are caught here.
The water is pollution-free because there are not many factories in this region. Therefore, the Haor fish of Kishoreganj grow by eating natural food. Besides being sold fresh, these fish are also dried. Which is strengthening our economy by meeting the needs of the country as well as being exported abroad. In Kishoreganj, there is an opportunity to get GI recognition by identifying Haor’s special and dried fish. But the Shoal fish here can be specially mentioned.
